Amazon Has Greenlit A Tomb Raider Adaptation
It has come to light that Amazon’s Prime Video has officially placed a series order for a Tomb Raider adaptation, helmed by none other than Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
The British actress, screenwriter, and producer, renowned for her Emmy, Golden Globe, and BAFTA-winning work on Fleabag, will serve as the writer and executive producer for the upcoming show.

Based on the ever-iconic Tomb Raider video game franchise, the series is poised to chronicle the adventures of the world-famous archaeologist and adventurer, Lara Croft.
So that leaves us to speculate who the perfect casting would be. I’m sure that many share the same sentiment as I do, that Angelina Jolie will always be our silver screen interpretation of the beloved character (sorry Alicia Vikander).
The production is a collaboration between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios and will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories.
Waller-Bridge reflected on her involvement in an interview with Deadline expressing her excitement.
“If I could tell my teenage self this was happening, I think she’d explode,” she shared via Deadline. “Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life, and I feel incredibly privileged to bring it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all.”

This TV show is part of a broader partnership between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon, which also includes plans for a new film and a video game. Announced in December 2022, Amazon Games will publish the next Tomb Raider game, described by Embracer Group as a single-player, narrative-driven action-adventure that continues Lara Croft’s legendary explorations.
Scot Amos, studio head of Crystal Dynamics, commented on the collaboration:
“Amazon MGM Studios and Amazon Games are incredible collaborators with a massive global reach, enabling us to expand the Tomb Raider franchise with new adventures and a shared passion for creating impactful, entertaining, emotional experiences for players and viewers across all media platforms.”
