Narrative-Puzzle Adventure Eternal Threads Coming Soon to Consoles

Publisher Secret Mode and developer Cosmonaut Studios have recently announced that their narrative-puzzle adventure game, Eternal Threads, will launch for consoles later this month.

Players take on the role of Operator 43, a newly-qualified time-travelling operative working for the Second Chance Project. Their task is to fix corruption in the past and restore the timestream. In the game, players are sent to the North of England in May 2015, where six people died in a house fire. The objective is to change the housemates’ decisions in the week leading up to the fire to rescue all six people from the deadly blaze.

The twist is that players are prohibited from stopping the fire due to the potential repercussions further down the timeline. Instead, they must search the events of the week before the fire, looking for decisions made by the housemates. These decisions can be changed, and players must find a set of choices that result in all six housemates surviving the fire. Some decisions will have only minor effects on the timeline, such as moving objects around the house or revealing deeper stories and secrets. However, major changes may rewrite the timeline by changing existing events, adding new events, and even replacing whole events entirely.

Since its initial release on 19 May 19 2022 for PC, Eternal Threads has gained critical praise and recognition, including winning the Best Puzzle Game prize at the TIGA Games Industry Awards, a nomination for Best Technical Innovation at the 2023 Develop: Star Awards, and an Honourable Mention in the category of Excellence in Narrative at the 25th Independent Games Festival.

Eternal Threads is scheduled for release on 23 May 2024 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. In the meantime, you can check out the game via Steam.
