Star Wars The Acolyte Showrunner Confirms This Iconic Sith Character Is Not In The Series

Star Wars The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland has confirmed that an iconic character from Star Wars lore won’t be showing up in Season 1 of the series, and it’s none other than Darth Bane.
In an interview with Den Of Geek, she said:
“I really toyed with utilizing Darth Bane or mentioning Bane. We do not do it in the first season, but it is obviously the legacy of these practitioners of the dark side.
While we don’t get into that particular lore, there were some things in Legends that I wanted to drag out because I felt they were really interesting, not only to the storyline but to myself as a fan. I thought, ‘Well, I’d love to do that.’
Darth Traya really stuck out to me as an inspiration.”
In Star Wars canon, Darth Bane was a legendary Dark Lord of the Sith who survived the Jedi-Sith War a thousand years before the Clone Wars. He is notable for establishing the Rule of Two, mandating that there could be only two Sith, a Master and an apprentice, at any given time.
So now we can rule out that the Sith-looking antagonist of Star Wars The Acolyte will be Darth Bane.
However, it’s interesting to hear her mention Darth Traya, who is a Sith character from Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic.
Perhaps Star Wars The Acolyte will start to pull more lore from Star Wars KOTOR to add to the official canon? We’ll have to wait and see.
The Acolyte is set in the High Republic era during the prime of the Jedi, around one hundred years before the events of Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace. As such, these are all brand new characters, with the exception of perhaps a young Master Yoda who is alive during this era.
The Acolyte stars Amandla Stenberg (Bodies Bodies Bodies), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), Manny Jacinto (Nine Perfect Strangers), Dafne Keen (Logan), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).

The synopsis reads:
The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.
It follows an investigation into a crime spree that pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems.
It’s been a good year for Star Wars fans. The latest Star Wars IP to be released in 2024 were Star Wars The Bad Batch Season 3, which premiered on 21 February 2024 and recently ended, and the anthology series, Star Wars Tales Of The Empire. Star Wars Skeleton Crew is also confirmed to arrive sometime in December 2024.
In the meantime, head on over here for our review of the new season of the anthology series, Star Wars Tales Of The Empire, and check out our full breakdown of the season here.
