Team Liquid Expands To Southeast Asia With ECHO & AURA Esports Acquisition

International esports powerhouse Team Liquid has announced its acquisition of Southeast Asia-based esports organisation STUN.GG who are the parent company of Indonesia’s AURA Esports and the Philippines’ ECHO.

Both AURA and ECHO will be rebranded under the Team Liquid banner, enhancing the organisation’s operations in the region. It should also be noted, the financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

This strategic move is part of Team Liquid’s broader global expansion, incorporating Southeast Asia into its already extensive portfolio, which includes North America, Latin America, and Europe.

Daniel Santoso, Chief Brand Officer of AURA went on to express his excitement.

“Joining Team Liquid is a dream come true, Liquid’s robust brand presence, competitive focus, and global strategy will empower us to achieve our goals on a grander scale. We believe in Team Liquid’s quest to build a global and multi-generational esports organisation, and that was a key factor in this partnership.”

With the acquisition of STUN.GG, Team Liquid gains Mobile Legends: Bang Bang teams from AURA Esports (MPL Indonesia) and ECHO Esports (MPL Philippines). These teams will be rebranded as Team Liquid ID and Team Liquid PH (Currently Liquid Aura and Liquid Echo respectively) in the upcoming MPL seasons. In addition to these competitive rosters, Team Liquid now also benefits from the combined social media reach of both teams, totalling around 10 million followers.

Steve Archancet, the co-CEO of Team Liquid went on record to share Team Liquid’s perspective of the acquisition.

“It was the leaders and staff of AURA/ECHO that convinced us we were making the right decision, their integration is vital to our success in the region, and we will provide them with the guidance and autonomy they need to authentically represent Team Liquid in Indonesia and the Philippines. I am excited to welcome our new Indonesian and Filipino fans.”

Team Liquid is already a major player in various high-profile esports, including League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege, Fortnite, PUBG Mobile, and now Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
