Blizzard Unveils Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred Cinematic & Release Date

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that the first expansion for Diablo IV, titled Vessel of Hatred, will be released on 8 October. The expansion was initially revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase, following its first announcement at BlizzCon 2023. Vessel of Hatred promises to introduce a new region, a new class, seasonal play, and additional content to the game.

“Become the apex predator of the jungle as the all-new Spiritborn class. Recruit Mercenaries to aid you in combat, fight together in a new PvE co-op activity, & more.”

The expansion’s opening cinematic sets a sinister tone, featuring a character named Neyrelle, who is on a mission to reach Akarat’s Tomb. The clip reveals Neyrelle being infected by a mysterious floating crystal, ultimately trapping her in a grotesque cavern within a giant demon.

The narrative of Vessel of Hatred continues from the conclusion of Diablo IV, taking players to a new southern region of Sanctuary called Nahantu, known as Torajan to outsiders. This dense jungle area maintains the dark and foreboding atmosphere characteristic of the game’s world. Fans of the series will recognise this region from Diablo II. For players who have not yet finished the main campaign, the expansion includes a recap to get them up to speed before continuing the adventure.
