Elden Ring DLC Commercial Pays Tribute To The Game’s One True GOAT
Bandai Namco has released a new commercial to promote its new Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, and it’s quite a blast from the past.
No, it’s not what’s inside the commercial, but rather what it embodies. The commercial just has a bunch of people in a park answering the call, seeing the aura of the Sites of Grace and gathering to a CGI Erdtree in the distance. It really feels like a game ad made in the 2000s, but for 2024.
Most importantly, we get to see the most iconic creatures from the game realized in a commercial: DOG.
But wait, that’s a tortoise…
For those who aren’t in on the joke, Elden Ring features a lot of tortoises crawling around in the fields and within the game’s church ruins; heck there’s even a giant one in a pope hat hanging around the Church of Atonement which can teach you spells.
Players all across the world who go online in Elden Ring usually put white messages next to the tortoises labeling them as “dog”. Why? Because the game does not have “tortoise” or “turtle” as part of its text input lexicon. Little did the world know that the 2022 base game gave birth to an iconic meme in gaming history.
We are fans of this particular dog, as opposed to the Caelid mutant dogs, the fast undead dogs, and so forth. Check out the full commercial below:
