Resident Evil 9 In The Works By Part 7’s Director

It looks like the next Resident Evil is going to be a reality, confirmed officially by Capcom.

Capcom announced during its early morning digital showcase that Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi will be leading the development of Resident Evil 9. Here’s a quote from the director himself:

“It was difficult to figure out what to do after Resident Evil 7. But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial. I can’t share any details yet, but I hope you’re excited for the day I can.”

This seems like a good idea, as Nakanishi and his team are responsible for bringing the RE survival horror franchise back to life in 2017. The first-person view for the new RE game back then and its survival horror core help made people care about the game all over again, so perhaps RE9 might do the same?

Previously, there were rumours of Resident Evil 9 in the works and being set in an Asian country; Singapore, to be specific. Part 9 will be an open-world game, and it will herald the return of RE2’s Leon Kennedy and RE1/RE3/RE5 Jill Valentine. Until Capcom talks about it more in an official capacity, we’ll have to keep speculating on part 9.
