Alien Romulus Bursts Out The Box Office Chest With Big Opening Weekend
Alien Romulus has garnered a whopping US$108.2 million global opening weekend box office, including US$41.5 million from the US and US$66.7 million at the international box office.
It did surprisingly well in China, opening there with US$25.7M, making it the second best opening for a Hollywood movie in 2024 (via Deadline). Alien Romulus also reached number one at the box office in many countries, including Malaysia, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand. In Europe, these include Italy, Spain, the UK and Poland, among others.

The film stars Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (Madame Web), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu. Fede Alvarez (2013’s Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) is the director and a horror veteran. He worked on the script of the movie as well with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues (Don’t Breathe 2) based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett.
Alien Romulus is now showing in Malaysian cinemas.
