VALORANT Champions 2024 – Day 8: Vitality & Paper Rex Prevail

Day 8 of VALORANT Champions 2024 continued the high-stakes drama, with teams fighting for their playoff lives. Two key matchups defined the day: Team Vitality vs. Talon Esports and Paper Rex vs. FUT Esports. The action was intense, and both matches delivered memorable moments for fans.

Team Vitality vs. Talon Esports

Team Vitality, one of the tournament favourites, faced off against Talon Esports in a do-or-die situation. Despite their underdog status, Talon Esports couldn’t keep up with the pace set by Team Vitality.

Map 1: Lotus – Team Vitality dominated the first map, Lotus, with a commanding 13-6 victory. Kicks and Trexx were the standout players, with Kicks achieving a +13 kill-to-death difference. His critical 1v2 clutch played a vital role in securing the map for Team Vitality, while Talon’s Papaphat “Primmie” Sriprapha struggled to make an impact.

Map 2: Sunset – The second map, Sunset, initially seemed evenly matched, with both teams tied 6-6 at halftime. However, Team Vitality’s defensive strategy shut down Talon Esports’ Cypher Deadlock composition, leading to a 13-8 win. This victory eliminated Talon Esports from their first VALORANT Champions event, while Team Vitality moved one step closer to the playoffs.

Paper Rex vs. FUT Esports

Paper Rex, recovering from their loss to G2 Esports, faced FUT Esports in another crucial match. Many questioned whether Paper Rex could regain their former glory, and they delivered in style.

Map 1: Sunset – Paper Rex opted for a straightforward team composition on the first map, Sunset, relying on Raze, Breach, and Gekko. Their aggressive playstyle paid off as they won the map 13-11, with all seven of their attacking round wins coming from eliminations rather than spike plants.

Map 2: Bind – The second map, Bind, was a showcase of Paper Rex’s dominance. Without using Reyna or Yoru, they employed a double initiator setup with Fade and Gekko. Wang Jing “Jinggg” Jie was unstoppable on Raze, racking up a KDA of 21/13/3 and securing eight first-bloods out of 19 rounds. Paper Rex cruised to a 13-6 victory, eliminating FUT Esports from the tournament.

Day 8 of VALORANT Champions 2024 saw Team Vitality and Paper Rex rise to the occasion, both securing critical victories. As the tournament progresses, the intensity only increases. Fans can expect even more thrilling matchups as the playoffs approach, with the question on everyone’s mind: Who will claim the title of world champion?
