Mickey 17 Is The Latest Sci-Fi Space Odyssey From Parasite Director Bong Joon Ho
We now know what’s next from Korean film auteur & writer Bong Joon-Ho: a scifi film about a guy who dies a lot and gets 3D printed to life as a result.
The new Warner Bros. Pictures-distributed film is called Mickey 17 and it answers the age-old question: “what’s it feel like to die?” The film is about the titular character Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) who works for a space company by dying. Yes, he dies for a living, to help further mankind’s reach into space and for the company’s various inventions and expeditions. He also gets resurrected a lot via the “3D printer” concept.
From the trailer below, it’s billed as a comedy too as we see Mickey getting sick of dying, his co-workers wondering what it feels like to die while he’s being eaten alive by aliens on a snow planet, ruthless CEOs and their over-the-top bottom line-sorting ways, and Mickey interacting with his clones. Other stars in the film include Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker), Steven Yeun (Nope), with Academy Award nominees Toni Collette (Hereditary), and Mark Ruffalo (Poor Things).
Director and writer Bong Joon-Ho is not only known for Parasite; he is also the director for such memorable Korean and US films such as The Host, Okja, and Snowpiercer.
Trailer’s below. Mickey 17 will be out in 31st January 2025.
