Fallout 76’s Next Update Presents the Biggest Boss in Fallout Games
Bethesda Game Studios recently announced exciting news for Fallout 76 during the Fallout Day Broadcast. The upcoming Gleaming Depths update will introduce the game’s first proper MMO-style endgame raid, set in a mysterious underground research laboratory located in the Ash Heap, where the Enclave once studied radioactive Ultracite.

The Gleaming Depths will present players with five challenging encounters as they explore the abandoned laboratory and confront the remaining beasts and bots in the radiation-ridden environment. This endgame content will require a well-equipped squad of four players to tackle, culminating in a showdown with the formidable Ultracite Terror, described as the biggest boss in the game and possibly the entire franchise. The update will enable players to craft four-star Legendary gear, providing valuable resources for the raid.
The Gleaming Depths update will also introduce more MMO-style features, including Player Titles that can be earned separately and combined in various ways to create unique titles. Responding to community requests, C.A.M.P. Pets will also be added, starting with pets like dogs and cats, which players can interact with and customize with accessories in Fallout 76.
Looking ahead, Bethesda also teased the upcoming arrival of Ghoul player characters in early 2025, with unique traits such as immunity to radiation damage and a new feral meter to manage. While Ghouls will have specific perk cards and advantages, they may face challenges with certain factions due to their unique nature.
The highly anticipated Gleaming Depths update is scheduled for release in December 2024, and it will also kick off the start of Season 19.
