Mass Effect Is Getting A TV Show

Following the release of Bioware’s latest RPG Dragon Age: The Veilguard comes another piece of news on its sci-fi cousin.

The TV series based on Mass Effect is now “officially in development”. According to a Variety report, Amazon MGM Studios has greenlit the project after reports about its existence & concept a few years ago.

Fast & Furious 9 writer Daniel Casey will be writing the script for the series and serving as an executive producer. Also in the mix are executive producer Karim Zreik and Ari Arad, alongside Michael Gamble, who is Bioware’s project director of the new Mass Effect.

This isn’t the first time the long-standing RPG series is linked with screen adaptations. Legendary Pictures previously acquired the rights to produce a Mass Effect movie in a co-production deal with Warner Bros. back in 2010. The screenwriter left the project in 2012. Still, a TV series would benefit greatly as that means more episodes to flesh out the galaxy and its colourful characters. But that also means loads of special and practical effects given the amount of aliens in the show.

In related news, Bioware will keep things quiet on 7th November (N7 Day, which is Mass Effect day) due to the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, though the company has release new merchandise in its store and teamed up with No Man’s Sky and Destiny 2 with cross-promo DLC.
