Creator Of Shadow Of The Colossus Reveals New Project At The Game Awards

The Game Awards 2024 played host to a surprise reveal from Fumito Ueda, the mind behind Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian. His latest project unveiled through a “cinematic” trailer that cleverly features actual in-game footage, is currently operating under the working title Project Robot.

In true Ueda fashion, the trailer delivers intrigue in spades. It opens with a character making a perilous climb up what is eventually revealed to be a towering mech. All the while, a countdown looms ominously, hinting at an impending shockwave. If you were expecting a Colossus or a Guardian cameo, though, temper those hopes—this new title appears to be a standalone adventure outside his iconic series.

As for when we’ll learn more? That, like most things Ueda, remains shrouded in mystery. But hey, if Project Robot sticks the landing, it could very well be another giant leap for gaming.
