Marvel Rivals Reaches 20 Million Players Ahead Of Holiday Bash

In just 11 days since its launch on 6 December, Marvel Rivals has amassed an impressive 20 million players across PS5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC. That’s double the 10 million players it attracted during its first three days, as revealed by NetEase on X. Is it a surprise? Not really given its reception but clearly, this 6v6 team-based shooter is off to a flying start.

For the uninitiated, Marvel Rivals lets you take control of iconic Marvel heroes and villains—spanning the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men, and beyond—in fast-paced third-person battles. The game is free-to-play, making it easy to dive in and start wreaking havoc as your favourite character. And with a development team filled with veterans from blockbuster franchises like Call of Duty and Battlefield, it’s no wonder this game is gaining traction.

To keep the momentum going, NetEase has announced a Winter Celebration update, set to arrive on 19 December at 11:00 PM (PST) which is on 20 December at 3:00 AM (GMT+8) for us Southeast Asians. This holiday-themed update is adding festive flair with new costumes, a Splatoon-inspired game mode, and—because Marvel loves its mysteries—a few surprises. You can catch a sneak peek in the newly released trailer.

Whether you’re a fan of the web-slinging Spidey or the snarky antics of Rocket Raccoon, it seems Marvel Rivals is determined to keep you hooked well into the holiday season.
