GBVS Rising Adds Super Angel Sandalphon To The Roster Next Month

During the Cygames Cup 2025 tournament this weekend (18 to 19 January), Cygames and Arc System Works have showcased new gameplay of its upcoming character in its 2D fighting game Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising: the primarch angel being Sandalphon.

In the original game, he’s a bishounen with a bunch of angel wings and is considered one of the more powerful beings in the Granblue universe. He’s dubbed the Primarch of Promises due to his power and representing the side of good.

Having inherited a will spanning countless years, this primarch spreads his twelve wings and soars far and wide. He carries the hopes of all who live in the skies, including his own.

In the 2D fighting game, he has a slew of elemental tricks to complement his shoto style of play (fireballs, anti-airs, the works).

Sandalphon will be kicking off GBVS Rising Season 2 Character Pass, as he will be out on 26 February alongside the 2.0 update to the game. The latter will most likely be character balances and quality-of-life updates; we’ll have to wait for the next GBVS Rising from Cygames later next month to find out more, on 21 February 6pm GMT+8.

The rest of the Season 2 characters will be out in Spring 2025, Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and Early 2025; 5 characters total including Sandalphon. Cygames has yet to announce the new additions.
