Legendary Dune & Twin Peaks Director David Lynch Dies At 78

David Lynch has passed away at the age of 78.

Lynch revealed last year in 2024 that he had been diagnosed with emphysema due to smoking. His family announced his death in a Facebook post, stating:

It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch. We would appreciate some privacy at this time. There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, “Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.”

It’s a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way.

The late David Lynch was an acclaimed and revolutionary director best known for his unique surreal style, which many has dubbed ‘Lynchian’, similar to late directors like Stanley Kubrick or Alfred Hitchcock who also have distinctive styles.

His directorial debut was 1977’s Eraserhead and he later went on to make the first adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune in 1984. However, he is best known for his other movies such as 1086’s Blue Velvet, 2001’s Mulholland Drive and of course, his magnum opus, the Twin Peaks TV series that aired from 1991 to 1992.

Twin Peaks melded elements of horror, film noir, whodunit and surrealism in a unique way. It has also inspired games such as most notably, the Alan Wake franchise from Remedy Entertainment, as well as other games like Hidetaka Suehiro AKA Swery65’s Deadly Premonition and Konami’s Silent Hill series.

Our condolences to his friends and family.
