New Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii Direct Video Puts Existing Pirate Games To Shame
Publisher Sega and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios have released a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming action-adventure title Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii.
The new gameplay trailer, billed as a direct livestream, showcases the game’s many, many mechanics and activities in great detail. You play as Goro Majima, who recently became an amnesiac. Stuck in Hawaii, he becomes a pirate captain with his own pirate ship and crew, going on adventures to recover his lost memories.
He has two fighting styles -Mad Dog and Sea Dog – and also uses musical tools called Dark Instruments to summon allies to level the playing field, like Man-Eating Sharks, chimpanzees, jellyfish, and giant parrots. He also has to sail through the seas of Hawaii, doing battle with other pirates with the help of your crew. Your pirate ship can be kitted out with arsenals galore, including flamethrowers and laser cannons. I’m not joking: it’s a hilarious sight to behold and fits with the zaniness of a Like A Dragon/Yakuza game.
Other than that, the Like A Dragon staples are still abound: you can check out Hawaii and all its offerings from arcade cabinets to karaoke, engage in pirate ship colosseum battles (or regular human battles) in the den of sin known as Madlantis, or just blaze through the story mode if you’re on a tight deadline. In any case, this pirate game puts Ubisoft’s past efforts deep down in Davy Jones’ locker. You know, the one funded by the Singaporean government.
In addition, the new gameplay deep dive announced that the game’s New Game Plus mode will be available for free post-launch; no release date for this update has been confirmed. What is confirmed is Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii’s release date & platforms: 21st February for PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5. For more information, check out our exclusive interview with Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios.
Speaking of Ubisoft, the company has shifted the date of its upcoming open-world action-adventure game Assassin’s Creed Shadow from February to 20th March. This move probably has a lot to do with how stacked February is, including the release of Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii.
