One Of The Original Scream Actors Is Returning For Scream 7
It’s a dream come true for Scream fans.
Matthew Lillard, who played Stuart ‘Stu’ Macher in the original 1996 Scream movie, is returning to the franchise for Scream 7.
Lillard is also best known for starring as Shaggy in the live-action Scooby-Doo movies and most recently, as the antagonist in the Five Nights At Freddy’s movie.
He also posted on his personal Instagram account to confirm the news.

Matthew Lillard joins legacy cast members Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox as well as Scott Foley, Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown, alongside newcomers Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, Anna Camp, Joel McHale and Mark Consuelos. Franchise creator Kevin Williamson is directing Scream 7 with Guy Busick (2022’s Scream and Scream 6) writing. Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt, William Sherak and Paul Neinstein (2022’s Scream and Scream VI) are producing.
The latest outing, Scream 6, premiered in 2023 and holds the franchise record for highest domestic box office gross with more than US$108 million and US$169 million worldwide. Collectively, the Scream franchise has earned more than US$900 million at the worldwide box office.
Scream 7 is slated to premiere in February 2026.
