It’s Gonna Be A Long Wait For Oshi no Ko Season 3
By Lewis Larcombe|February 5, 2025|0 Comment
Good things come to those who wait—or, in this case, Oshi no Ko fans will have to exercise monk-like patience until 2026. That’s when the highly anticipated third season of Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari’s hit series is set to drop. The announcement was made during the Ichigo Production Fan Appreciation 2025 event, complete with a cryptic teaser starring Ruby. Because nothing says “excitement” like a dose of unsettling mystery.
For the uninitiated, Oshi no Ko (penned by Akasaka of Kaguya-sama: Love is War fame and illustrated by Yokoyari of Scum’s Wish) first hit the pages of Weekly Young Jump in April 2020. The story follows Gorou, a gynaecologist and die-hard idol fan, who finds himself in the most unexpected of circumstances when his favourite idol, Ai, suddenly takes a break from the spotlight. What happens next? Well, let’s just say it bends the rules of reality in ways you wouldn’t expect.
Season 3 will see the return of some major voice talents, including Mamoru Miyano (Death Note’s Light Yagami, Steins;Gate’s Rintarou Okabe) as Hikaru Kamiki. Also joining the cast is Hina Kino (Asobi Asobase’s Hanako Honda, Buddy Daddies’ Miri Unasaka), who will bring Tsukuyomi to life.
In the meantime, Oshi no Ko has already extended its reach beyond anime, with a real-life stage play currently adapting the 2.5D Stage Play arc from Season 2. So, if waiting for Season 3 feels unbearable, you could always check that out—because, let’s be honest, 2026 feels like a lifetime away.
