After A Three Year Hiatus, The Original VTuber Returns With A New Look & Goal

Kizuna AI has officially returned.

That’s right: the original VTuber that spawned a bunch of awesome VTubers and content creators previously took a 3-year break before returning under a new name – KizunaAI. She also has a new look:

Why is she back? Because she’s going to pursue her next venture: music. She has released her new single “Kamone” that also comes with a music video. At this point in typing, the music video has garned half a million views in 21 hours.

In fact, her current career is going to be music-focused. She will be introducing a “new J-Pop” style for her slew of songs and albums. As of now, her current song Kamone features themes of longing, reunion, and rediscovery. Her new album will be out this year and will feature more than 10 songs.

Kizuna AI debuted in 2016 with her slew of livestreams and playthroughs of video games, coining the term “virtual YouTuber” or VTuber as we know today. She gained global recognition and amassed over 10 million followers. Her last performance was the “Kizuna AI The Last Live ‘hello, World 2022” concert on 26 February 2022.
