Dark Outlaw Games Is A New PlayStation Studio Being Led By Ex-Call Of Duty Zombies Lead
By Jonathan Toyad|March 18, 2025|0 Comment
You may not be familiar with the name Jason Blundell, but you may know of his lead creative work: Call of Duty Zombies, a beloved mode in the first-person shooter franchise from Treyarch and Activision. He also worked on the EA-published license movie game Catwoman, but that’s just random trivia for you.
The ex-Treyarch co-studio head will be running a new PlayStation studio called Dark Outlaw Games, in a recent interview with ex-Giant Bomb founder/ex-GameSpot lead Jeff Gerstmann. Jason said the new studio is “staffing up” and will have more to share in the future, especially its first game project.
“I’ve had the amazing opportunity to create a new studio within PlayStation Studios for Sony.
The studio is called Dark Outlaw. We’ve been working away in the shadows for a while, when we’ve got something to talk about we’ll step out into the light. It’s such a privilege to be able to do it with Sony as a new first-party studio, Sony doesn’t start up first-party studios all the time, so to have that privilege is humbling.
It’s about getting the team to gel. I’m a programmer at heart so let’s test those assumptions, is it working?… You’re trying to hit that escape velocity.”
