The Long-Awaited Remake Of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Could Shadow Drop Anytime This Month

The Elder Scrolls games have been influential in computer RPG history for a long while, especially with past entries like Morrowind and Oblivion. So of course, a remake of one of them is due.

The latter entry, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, is said to be remade behind closed doors and is still in secrecy, though recent claims state that the game will be shadow dropped this month. According to Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb, he’s been told that the remake of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be released at any moment in April.

“[I’ve] been told it’s going to shadow drop at any moment this month… It’s going to shadow drop pretty soon.”

The remake is said to be developed by Virtuos, the same company working on Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. It will be using Unreal Engine 5 and have six of its gameplay systems remade (via MP1st). The game will have an improved blocking system that’s inspired by From Software’s Dark Souls titles.

“The stamina system was modified to be less frustrating for the player, making the knockdown that occurs when stamina is depleted more difficult to activate through changes in calculation methods. The HUD was changed to make it easier to understand and more aesthetically appealing to young players. Hit reactions were also added to improve the response to damage inflicted on the player and NPCs. Finally, Archery was improved to make it more playable and modern in both third and first-person viewpoints.”
