Magic Chess: Go Go Goes Global With Gods, Demons & Synergies Galore

You know what’s more thrilling than watching your Mobile Legends heroes beat each other up in real time? Watching them duke it out on a chessboard, completely automated, while you sit there pretending to be a genius tactician. That’s the premise of Magic Chess: Go Go (MCGG)—MOONTON Games’ free-to-play strategy spinoff that’s finally breaking out of its APAC test bubble and launching globally today on 28 May. Yes, it’s official—Magic Chess is going worldwide, and with it comes Season 2: Blessing of Embers, packed with Gods, Demons, and more Synergy than a K-pop boyband.

If the name rings a bell, it should. MCGG was developed by the very same folks behind Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, except this time, instead of MOBA mayhem, you’re commanding your favourite MLBB heroes like chess pieces in an eight-player PvP gauntlet that screams “I have big brain energy.”

Following a successful soft launch across Southeast Asia on 21 February 2025, MCGG didn’t just gain traction—it tore up the pre-registration charts like a hungry beast, surpassing 20 million eager fingers tapping that “Notify Me” button.

Gao “Skyhook” Chong, the game’s producer, stated:

“The response has been wild, we’ve got creators churning out content faster than we can scroll through it, and the first community tournament in Indonesia was absolutely buzzing.”

And that’s not just hot air. Gameplay streams and how-to guides have raked in millions of views, and community events are already stacking up like late-game heroes.

Now, with the Season 2 launch, MCGG’s doubling down on the drama. The new season, Blessing of Embers, introduces an epic showdown between Gods and Demons. That’s right—your tactical brain will now have to deal with divine warfare. Along with that comes six fresh Synergies, upping the total to ten, letting you mix and match hero factions for devastating bonus effects. Think of it like building a fantasy football team, if fantasy football involved throwing fireballs and summoning hellspawn.

What’s more, the returning Blessing mechanic adds even more spice. Stack three heroes of the same kind and level? Boom—get an extra Synergy or Role for your trouble. Stack enough of these blessings and you’ll unlock Ultra Synergy, which sounds like something Tony Stark would install in his next Iron Man suit.

“It’s a nod to the OG Magic Chess fans, but also a fun new twist for fresh faces joining the battlefield.”

– Gao “Skyhook” Chong

MCGG is now available in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand on both iOS and Android. With its global rollout, MOONTON is clearly betting big on this strategy brawler—and honestly, given how addictive it is to watch your perfectly synergised team sweep the board while you smugly sip coffee, they might be onto something.
