Ubisoft Bails On Its Own Party For 2025
For the first time since the year of banana bread and Tiger King, Ubisoft is skipping out on Ubisoft Forward—its annual digital parade of game trailers and corporate optimism. That’s right, the company famous for Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and open-world fatigue is not throwing its usual summer showcase.
Instead of throwing its own party, Ubisoft will just crash everyone else’s—expect to see them awkwardly pop up at Summer Game Fest events like the PC Gaming Show, IGN Live, and Gamescom in August. Sort of like being invited to a wedding and only showing up for the open bar.
Why the change? According to journalist Stephen Totilo, Ubisoft admitted they just don’t have enough bangers to justify a solo show this year. Which, if you’ve been paying attention, isn’t entirely surprising. They recently hit the brakes on a couple of “unannounced but totally obvious” games—rumoured to be the usual suspects: more Assassin’s Creed, more Far Cry, probably another Tom Clancy-branded tactical hoodie simulator.
Ubisoft Forward, which has been a digital and in-person showcase for the company's games just about every June, isn't happening this year.A company rep tells me Ubisoft will participate in IGN Live (June 7-8) and PC Gaming Show (June 8) and will also be at GamesCom

But it’s not all doom and gloom. The long-suffering Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake (you know, the one that’s been stuck in a development time loop since 2020) is finally aiming for release by March 2026. So, we’ve got that to look forward to—eventually.
On top of that, Ubisoft is reorganising the family business. They’ve handed the keys of their holy trinity—Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six—to a shiny new Tencent-backed subsidiary. The idea? More cash, more creativity, and hopefully fewer “oops, we delayed it again” press releases.
In summary: Ubisoft isn’t ghosting us, they’re just… quietly lurking from the sidelines this year. Whether that’s a smart pivot or a polite way of saying “we’re not ready” remains to be seen. Either way, if you were hoping for a big splashy Ubisoft showcase, you’re out of luck—but at least there’s still Gamescom.
