Nintendo Switch 2 Is Selling Three Times Faster Than Switch 1 In Native Country
The Big N has always dominated in both the United States of America and Japan, but nothing beats the support of your home turf.
Nintendo’s new console, the Nintendo Switch 2, has smashed new sales records in Japan, beating PlayStation 2’s first sales month. According to Famitsu reports, the console has sold at least 1.5 million units in Japan in its first month (June). This number does not include units sold by Nintendo themselves, so the sales number could be higher.
For comparison, the Game Boy Advance held the record for Nintendo consoles sales in Japan at 1.3 million units in its first month, followed by Nintendo DS’ 1.2 million units. For non-Nintendo consoles, the Nintendo Switch 2 sales in its first month has beaten the PlayStation 2’s first month numbers of 1,134,862 units back in 2000. As for the original Switch? It sold 556,633 units back in March 2017.
On a global scale, the Nintendo Switch 2 sold 3.5 million units in its first four days, making it the fastest-selling Nintendo system ever. For more on the console and the latest games, check out our recent coverage of Donkey Kong Bananza.
