[Report] Shin Megami Tensei V Is Coming Out This November

The long-awaited fifth numbered entry in the Shin Megami Tensei series is coming out later this year.

According to an official SMT Japanese website update that was premature (via Persona Central), Shin Megami Tensei V will be out on 11th November. While the site itself is Japanese (thus this means a Japanese release), developer Atlus has stated to have a worldwide release for the title. This means that English versions of Shin Megami Tensei V will be out closer to the November release. Or if we’re lucky, that could be the worldwide release date.

The website also details more backstory and content for Shin Megami Tensei V. Let’s break it down:

  • The game’s main character is a high school student living an ordinary life, when all of sudden he/she wanders into another world called Da’ath. He/she fuses with a mysterious person and becomes a Naobino, a forbidden entity who now locks horns with gods and demons.
  • The game will feature over 200 demons. Most of them will be newly-drawn by the game’s character designer Masayuki Doi.
  • The RPG title will retain the demon-recruiting and fusion system just like in past games. You’ll need to find demons for your party, fuse existing ones to make powerful ones, and use their abilities.
  • There’s going to be a limited edition “Forbidden Naobino Box” in addition to the standard version. The limited-edition will contain “plenty of demons and music that embody Shin Megami Tensei V”. Probably translates to OST CD and in-game cosmetics, as well as a Naobino figurine for collectors.

Guess we’ll have to wait for more info on the game at Nintendo’s E3 2021 Direct livestream later this month.
