Hawkeye: Kevin Feige Calls Hailee Steinfeld The “Dream Version” Of Kate Bishop

Courtesy of Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia, we were recently lucky enough to attend an online press conference for the upcoming Hawkeye series. It featured Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Kevin Feige, Vera Farmiga, Tony Dalton, and director/executive producer Rhys Thomas.

When asked about what Hailee Steinfeld’s first audition was like and whether they knew she was the right actress for the role of Kate Bishop, Kevin Feige surprisingly revealed that she didn’t even audition for the role in the first place.

He said:

“She did not audition.

We were very, very lucky that Hailee was open to this because we very much believe that she was sort of the prototype for the character, and it occasionally happens that the dream version of the character agrees to do it.

I think there were early meetings and discussions, but we were very thankful that she wanted to jump into this role because we had a feeling that she would be great.

And she is.”

There you go, folks. The casting process for any character isn’t easy but it looks like Kevin Feige and those at Marvel Studios definitely had faith in Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop from the very beginning. That’s good news for fans of the character, as it seems like she’s in good hands.

Hawkeye will premiere its first two episodes on 24 November 2021 on Disney+ Hotstar.

The synopsis reads:

Hawkeye is an original new series set in post-blip New York City where former Avenger Clint Barton aka Hawkeye has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. But when a threat from his past shows up, Hawkeye reluctantly teams up with Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old skilled archer, and his biggest fan, to unravel a criminal conspiracy.

Stay tuned for our review of Hawkeye soon. In the meantime, check out the trailer below:
