Ubisoft’s Battle Royale Hyper Scape Is Shutting Down

Ubisoft has announced that development on Hyper Scape will end and that the game will shut down on 28 April 2022. The battle royale game was originally launched for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on 11 August 2020 following an open beta period on PC that started a month earlier.

The official statement reads:

“We have made the difficult decision to end development of Hyper Scape and shut the game down as of April 28. We set out to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience and we are extremely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey. We will be taking key learnings from this game into future products.”

Despite being free to play and available on major platforms, the game never really took off, which is probably due to the oversaturated battle royale market. Interestingly, the game also featured a Malaysian as a playable hero/champion, which is kind of neat as well.
