Blizzard’s Next Overwatch 2 Event Is Next Month

While we enjoyed the Overwatch 2 beta, we did feel that it was more a PvP update than a full-fledged sequel. I’m sure Blizzard knows this and are attempting to fix this confusion among its fanbase, so they’re hosting a new event for the game next month.

The company said earlier today that it is “humbled and inspired by the amount of interest and enthusiasm” for part 2. The game’s next public presentation is 16th June and will be on Blizzard’s livestream platforms; YouTube, Twitch, and so forth. The stream will talk about the dev team’s plans for the months ahead, including the next PvP beta.

Here’s the statement from Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller about the whole thing.

“Overwatch as a world, as a universe, is deeply personal to the team; something that we pour our time, creative energies and passion into. It can be scary putting something that means so much to you out there for other people to look at. Especially when you know that it’s not finished and you’re asking for people’s real and valid criticisms of what you’ve made.

But the reason we do it is important–to make a better game, and it’s our players and our community that make it possible. Tests like this are a vital part of the process of improving Overwatch. We can’t wait to take everything we’ve learned from the beta and apply it to the game, and we’re so excited to get it back in front of you.”

Overwatch 2 will be out sometime in 2023, but I’m guessing we’ll see either one of the game’s portions -PvP or PvE- in an earlier launch.
