Rockstar Shelves GTA 4 & Red Dead Redemption Remasters To Focus On GTA 6

According to a new report from Kotaku, Rockstar Games is shelving all remakes and remasters following the failure of Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy The Definitive Edition, which includes GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption. The reason for doing so is allegedly to focus all efforts and resources towards the development of GTA 6.

What’s interesting is that Kotaku’s report corroborates information that was first released by games industry insider and Twitter user Tez2 yesterday.

According to the same sources, however, Rockstar Games could still make GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption remakes or remasters in the far future after GTA 6 eventually launches, whenever that may be. At the time of writing. Rockstar Games has yet to officially comment on Kotaku’s report.

The last official update we received from Rockstar Games was back in February 2022 when the developer officially confirmed that GTA 6 is already in active development. If Rockstar Games does indeed focus entirely on GTA 6, we might be getting the latest installment of the franchise sooner than expected. Still, considering that GTA 5 came out almost a decade ago all the way back in 2013, no release date is too soon.
