Sega Unveils First Look At Yakuza 8
Sega and RGG Studio originally announced that Yakuza 8, or a sequel to Yakuza Like A Dragon, was already in development back in October 2021. Fast-forward almost a year later, and we’ve finally received our first look at what Yakuza 8 looks like, as well as several new details about the upcoming game.
The first look at Yakuza 8 was unveiled via Famitsu and a new YouTube video hosted by Japanese MMA fighter / YouTuber Mirai Asakura. The 17-minute-long video shows Asakura visiting Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and seeing the developers in action, who are currently working on Yakuza 8. Therefore, our first look at Yakuza 8 is actually only through the computer screens of these developers at the studio.
It is said that Asakura himself will also appear in Yakuza 8, though it’s unknown whether he’ll be playable or an NPC.
The Famitsu article does reveal that Yakuza 8 will feature a new town and that returning Yakuza Like A Dragon protagonist will have his hair tied back instead of the afro he sported in the previous game. The YouTube video also confirms that there will be several other characters from Yakuza Like A Dragon returning for Yakuza 8.
These include:

Besides that, we’ll probably have to wait a while until we get a proper trailer or gameplay footage of the game.
