Super Smash Bros. Composer Kenichi Okuma Has Died
Sad news for the Super Smash Bros. community: one of the game’s composers has passed away.
Composer Kenichi Okuma died at the age of 56 due to esophageal cancer on 22nd July. Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai shared his condolences via social media.
“Best wishes for your soul … Thank you for your support in “Smash Bros. X”, but there are some songs that will be used in later series.”

He was renowned for composing and arranging a number of Super Smash Bros. Brawl music like Pokemon Gym/Evolution, Flat Zone 2, and Gyromite. Rest in peace, Okuma-san: you will be missed by fans of your awesome remixes and compositions!
