[Rumour] Sony To Launch New PS5 With Detachable Disc Drive

According to a new report from Insider Gaming, Sony is allegedly planning to release a new PS5 console model in 2024 with a detachable disc drive, which will reportedly arrive around September 2024.

In terms of specs, it seems like this new PS5 model will probably feature the same power as current models, but it will feature a new detachable disc drive. It will supposedly be a digital-only PS5 console which will come in a bundle with the detachable disc drive. The disc drive itself is also expected to be sold separately, so those with existing PS5 Digital Edition consoles should also be able to use it as well.

In terms of how it looks, it will probably look similar to the current ones. It’s also reported that this will replace the physical PS5 as Sony moves towards a more digital future. However, we should take all of this with a grain of salt for now, considering that Sony has yet to announce anything official.
