Community Gets A Movie, 6 Seasons Later

We’ve had 6 seasons of campus-focused comedy show Community, and now we’re finally getting the movie we fans deserve.

A Deadline report stated that a Community movie is in the works for NBC’s Peacock streaming service. Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong will be returning, reprising their roles as Jeff, Abed, Annie, Britta, Dean Craig Pelton, and Ben Chang.

As for the other cast members -Donald Glover, Chevy Chase, and Yvette Nicole Brown- it’s still up in the air. Everyone knows the controversy between Community’s creator Dan Harmon (of Rick and Morty fame nowadays) and Chevy Chase, but for the other two? We’ll see as the show progresses in development.

Speaking of which, Dan Harmon will be attached to the project. Here’s the official press release blurb:

“Six seasons and a movie’ started out as a cheeky line from Community’s early seasons and quickly ignited a passionate fan movement for this iconic, hilarious and cool NBC comedy. We’re incredibly grateful that 15 years later, we are able to deliver fans this promised movie and can’t wait to get to work with Dan Harmon, Andrew Guest, Joel McHale, Sony, and our partners at UTV to continue this epic comedy for Peacock audiences.”

Community first debuted in 2009 and went on for, well, six seasons. The show is renowned for its of-kilter humour, meta-commentary, and pop culture parodies. It also had epic paintball episodes, a claymation episode, and even a G.I. Joe cartoon spoof.
