Final Fantasy VII Battle Royale Mobile Game To Shut Down Early Next Year

Even with the landmark Final Fantasy VII brand in the front of your title, that’s not enough to get people to flock to your battle royale game.

Such is the case of mobile game Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier. The free-to-play Square Enix game will end its service and go offline on 11th January, 2023. Shinra Credits have been removed from the in-game shop as of right now, though you can spend your remaining credits until the service ends.

The game came out on 17 November, 2021. At the very least, the game got a year in before it gets the boot for assumingly not making a profit, even if it’s cashing on the battle royale multiplayer craze. Here’s the official message from Square Enix.

It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the end of service for Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier. We will be ending service at 07:00 UTC on January 11, 2023.

Despite all our efforts to bring you regular updates with fresh and exciting content, we haven’t been able to deliver the experience that we were hoping to, and that you all deserve, so we have made the extremely tough decision to end service for Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier.

We would like to thank you all for supporting us over the past year.

Although there is only a little less than three months until service ends, we will continue to make updates during this time, so we hope you will continue to enjoy Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier until the very end.
