UiTM Teams Secure Top Spots In University E-League FIFA 22 Grand Finals

Following the recent launch of its third season, the University e-League (UeL) kicked off its collegiate esports competition with its first out of four game titles – FIFA 22.

This round of competition saw 50 students representing their universities competing in a Qualifiers and Playoff round to earn the top spot in the Grand Finals set to be held next month. In the coming weeks, UEL is set to bring more excitement and entertainment with over 200 university teams going head-to-head in games such as Valorant, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and PUBG Mobile.

UeL’s FIFA 22 Playoffs last weekend saw the participation of teams including Multimedia University (MMU), the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), Swinburne University and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) amongst many others. Following three days of intense e-football competition, the Playoffs drew to a close with two players from UiTM securing the top spot in the Grand Final stage set to be held on 11th December 2022.

Zarif Ilman bin Norjafree from ‘Void Gaming Lab’, one of the FIFA 22 finalists representing UiTM Pahang said: “Competing in UeL and coming this far in the competition has been a tremendous experience for me. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to showcase my abilities amongst some of the best esports talents in the country. While I’m extremely proud to have made it to the Grand Finals, I’m more excited to share the stage with my fellow collegemates. No matter what, I’m sure we will make UiTM proud and we hope to have the support of our fellow students”

This week, the UeL progresses to the Qualifiers and Playoff rounds for Valorant, with similar legs for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and PUBG Mobile happening over the following two weeks. Over 200 university esports teams have registered to participate in tournaments and tons of esports action is expected to ensue between the teams. Students, esports enthusiasts and fans are welcome to tune in to support their universities in the competition. The broadcast of the UeL Playoffs will be live-streamed every Saturday and Sunday consecutively from now until 20 November, while the Grand Finals will take place on 10 and 11 December via the UeL Facebook page,
