Here Are Some Fun Facts About Grogu Ahead Of The Mandalorian Season 3

Whether you’re a Star Wars fan or not, Grogu aka The Child oozes irresistible cuteness with his adorable giant ears and huge eyes, catching everyone’s heart. With the third season of The Mandalorian almost upon us, here are five facts about Grogu you probably didn’t know.

  1. Grogu and Master Yoda are NOT the same character but members of the same force-sensitive species

It doesn’t come as a surprise that viewers are quick to assume Grogu’s relationship to the Jedi Grand Master Yoda in the original Star Wars trilogy. Well,  Director Jon Favreau has squashed this theory, reiterating that Grogu is not a younger version of Yoda himself and is not related to him in any way.

  1. Grogu like most people, loves to eat

Throughout the series, Grogu is always hungry and constantly looking for food to snack on, from appetising snacks like a bright blue cookie or a nice cup of bone broth to stranger concoctions like a live bowl of tentacle chowder, frog eggs and newly spawned ice spiders from a cave.

  1. Grogu is a formidable foe

As a force-sensitive being, using the force is second nature for Grogu which enables him to tap into powerful abilities like a force created barrier, concealment, telekinesis and more during dire situations to protect himself along with his adoptive father, Din Djarin, the Mandalorian.

  1. Grogu has a strange fixation with a shiny round knob

Ever since he sat in Din Djarin’s Razor Crest, Grogu has been obsessed with the spherical knob on one of the ship’s control levers. In Season 1, he goes for the knob and takes it in his mouth like a newborn. This progresses in Season 2, whenever given a chance, he uses the Force to telekinetically drag the knob closer to him.

  1. Grogu’s lifelike movements are a result of puppetry and animatronics

Grogu’s seamless movements and extraordinary performance within the series was made possible as the filmmakers decided to create a puppet made out of custom silicone instead of using the regular CGI effects. Grogu’s signature sound akin to a baby cooing is a combination of human sounds mixed with recordings of a tropical rainforest mammal called a kinkajou.

The Mandalorian Season 3 premieres on Disney+ Hotstar on 1 March 2023.
