Microsoft To Bring Xbox Wireless Controllers To Malaysia, Officially

As part of Microsoft’s slow-but-steady expansion to Southeast Asia (save Singapore, since they’ve been there since the 2000s), Microsoft will be bringing in its Xbox accessories and Xbox Wireless Controllers to the region on an official capacity.

According to Microsoft Asia Business Director Jeremy Hinton (via Lowyat.net), the company will be bringing its Xbox Wireless Controllers to Malaysia, The Philippines, and Indonesian markets, with an expanded range for Thailand and Vietnam for the first time since forever. However, it’ll be the base model controller that will officially be on sale; the rest of the colours and special editions won’t be available initially. The company has yet to share when that expansion will happen; hopefully, it’ll happen halfway through the year.

It’s nice to know that Microsoft is slowly making its peripherals and consoles officially available to the rest of Southeast Asia, meaning there would be official places to send your consoles for warranty-fixing and whatnot. But is it too little, too late, considering everyone who games on the platform is already used to paying slightly extra to get ahead of the curve? To be fair, the PC Game Pass expansion last year in the other SEA regions is at least a small step to building some goodwill.

In the meantime, you can still buy Xbox consoles and controllers via grey markets and parallel importing. Most stores like Gamers Hideout do sell the consoles and controllers albeit at a slightly marked-up price than usual.
