Three Star Wars Movies Are In The Works With Rey Returning In One of Them

During Star Wars Celebration 2023 in London, Lucasfilm announced that three new Star Wars movies are in development.

James Mangold Star Wars Movie

First up is a Star Wars movie by director James Mangold (best known for directing Logan and the upcoming Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny). This will focus on the origins of the Jedi and the dawning of the Force set before the Old Republic. He describes it as a “Biblical epic.”

Dave Filoni Star Wars Movie

Secondly, the movie will be directed by Dave Filoni (the creator of Star Wars The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, The Mandalorian, and a Star Wars master in general). The movie is set in between Star Wars Episode VI Return Of The Jedi and Episode VII The Force Awakens which will be a culminating event for the plot threads in The Mandalorian and other shows. The movie will draw upon Legends / Expanded Universe and tell the story of an “epic battle”.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Star Wars Movie

Last but not least, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (who directed Ms. Marvel) will direct a new movie about the rise of a Jedi Order set after Star Wars Episode IX The Rise Of Skywalker. Daisy Ridley is confirmed to return as Rey Skywalker.

Helming the movies are James Mangold (Logan, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny), Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian, Ahsoka), and Academy Award- and Emmy Award-winning director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel, Saving Face).

James Mangold’s movie will go back to the dawn of the Jedi, while Dave Filoni’s will focus on the New Republic, and close out the interconnected stories told in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and other Disney+ series. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s film will be set after the events of Rise of Skywalker, and feature Daisy Ridley back as Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order.

However, there are currently no release dates for any of these movies as of yet. Stay tuned on Kakuchopurei!
