Capcom To Ban Anyone From Their Tournaments Who Played The Street Fighter 6 Beta Illegally

Capcom has finally addressed the Dhalsim stage elephant in the room: the fact that there are people out there who are playing the cracked version of the now-defunct Street Fighter 6 online beta.

For those who don’t know, the Street Fighter 6 open beta was open for a set few weekends for network testing purposes and also giving those who enter a taste of what’s to come in the upcoming 2D fighting game sequel. Since the beta came out on PC and is such a hot commodity, a few number of unsavoury folks took the opportunity to crack it and have it run outside of the intended select weekends.

Capcom has released a statement regarding this particular notorious tactic, stating that playing the cracked beta is a clear violation of the Closed Beta Test terms of service. Here’s the full statement the company made:

“It has come to our attention that some users have been accessing the Street Fighter 6 Closed Beta (CBT) software and playing the game outside of the designated period.

This is a violation of the CBT Terms of Service and can be seen as a violation of the Capcom Pro Tour code of conduct.

For the avoidance of doubt, from this point forward, any player who is shown with clear evidence to be accessing the CBT in an unauthorized way may be deemed ineligible for the upcoming Capcom Pro Tour and Street Fighter League seasons.”

Better late than never, I suppose. This announcement is more or less a fair warning for anyone who played the beta beyond their intended active dates in its cracked form. Justify it all you want, but playing the cracked beta for the purpose of getting a leg up on everyone before the Street Fighter 6 launch period -2nd June- is basically cheating and also illegal since this is a form of piracy.

Besides, if you wanted to get some extra training in the legal way, just play the Street Fighter 6 demo that’s available right now for PC and consoles. You can set the computer AI to level 8 and just sort things out from there in the game’s versus mode.
