Star Ocean: The Second Story Gets A Remake; Out This November
It’s really no secret that the second Star Ocean is loved by JRPG fans. It’s most likely due to the combat, the multiple endings and divergent paths, or the expansive scifi/fantasy world that mixes Star Trek with Final Fantasy; I’d say all three.
Star Ocean: The Second Story is getting a remake, with new 2.5 and 3D graphics and reworked gameplay from the 1998 original. The game lets you pick between two protagonists: Claude C. Kenny of the Terran Alliance and Rena Lanford who has healing powers and a native of the planet Expel. The two eventually team up and end up recruiting more friends and party members ranging from a treasure hunter to a guy with two dragon heads on his shoulder. And yes, we’ll be getting a new remix of the iconic battle theme “Stab The Sword of Justice”.
Star Ocean: The Second Story R will be out for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC on 2nd November.
Star Ocean: The Second Story first came out in 1998 for PlayStation. The game was re-released for the PlayStation Portable in 2008 with some updates.
