Here Is Japan’s Top Three Octopath Traveler Moments
Developer Acquire and Square Enix hosted the 5th-year anniversary of the first Octopath Traveler, which debuted in 2018 for Nintendo Switch. While looking back at the history of the series, the team announces the results of a user survey concerning the game’s best story & music moments.
Here’s your spoiler warning, since we’re delving into endgame territory for a game that was out 5 years ago.
Without further ado, here they are:
Octopath Traveler Best Story Moments
No.3: Primrose confronts Simeon
A rather fitting end to Primrose’s tormentor and former friend.
No.2: Olberic duels Erhardt
Olberic comes to terms with his destiny and the truth behind his predicament.
No.1: The Final Sidequest Leading Up To The True Boss Fight
While lengthy and cryptic, this final optional quest and uber boss fight is worth it just to get a full conclusion out of the game.
It’s rather sad that Ophelia’s final boss fight wasn’t anywhere in the top three: that’s clearly the winner due to its relevance to the character’s plot and ending arc, how it’s set up, and how it’s fully voice-acted compared to the other segments. The dialogue between the villain and heroine also adds gravitas and weight to the entire fight too. At least Octopath Traveler 2 fixed all that.
What didn’t need fixing was the OST, which is still immaculate to this day. Here’s the fan poll for the best tracks in the first game:
#3: Octopath Traveler -Main Theme-
#2: Battle At Journey’s End
#1: Decisive Battle II
The livestream is still ongoing; you can check that out as well as some lovely fanart from the community that’s celebrating the game’s 5th birthday.
