We Might Get More Cyberpunk 2077 Anime & Shows From Edgerunners Studio Trigger
During CD Projekt’s investor presentation this week, the company hinted at a further collaboration with Studio Trigger, the animation company responsible for last year’s hit adaptation Cyberpunk Edgerunners.
CD Projekt Chief Commercial Officer Michal Nowakowski said the company has big plans for expanding the franchise beyond the development of the eventual Cyberpunk 2077 sequel codenamed Project Orion. Apart from the live-action Cyberpunk 2077 project, Nowakowski hinted at possibly working with Studio Trigger but only at a later time.
“Yes, we do have plans. That’s why we have started cooperating with Anonymous Content [on the live-action project]. We want things to happen. A lot is happening, a lot is planned. Trigger was in 2018 but [Edgerunners] started in 2022, so for a number of years we did not speak about this because it wasn’t ready.
There are plans we’d rather keep quiet until there is something to speak about, until there is really something to discuss, some concrete announcement. When the time comes, we’ll tell you. I know I keep repeating it, but yes, the general direction is this – to go this way, this is strategically important for us.”
CD Projekt Chief Creative Officer Adam Badowski also added the following:
“What’s also important is that Trigger, our partner, has certain rules for announcing projects and we have to be compliant with this.”
Given the success of Cyberpunk Edgerunners and the fact it contributed immensely to the resurgence of the Cyberpunk 2077 RPG, it’s only natural for CD Projekt to attempt to make lightning strike twice. If you want to find out why the anime is a big deal, you can check out our review or just see it for yourself on Netflix. On a related note, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty is out right now.
