Adult Swim Unveils New Teaser For Rick and Morty: The Anime
By Alisha Alix|December 19, 2023|0 Comment
Adult Swim has released a sneak peek of the Rick and Morty anime spin-off. The series is set to launch sometime in early next year.
In the video, Rick is pitted against a swarm of alternate-universe doppelgangers of himself while Summer endeavours to help him track down their target from a radar station in Rick’s lab. The footage undoubtedly bears a resemblance to Rick and Morty and showcases the same distinctive brand of offbeat sci-fi humour that the series is known for.
The upcoming anime series is being executive produced by Jason DeMarco, the Senior Vice President of Anime and Action Series at Warner Bros. Animation, and Joseph Chou (Blade Runner: Black Lotus). Telecom Animation Film (Lupin III, Shenmue the Animation) and Sola Entertainment will be involved in the production. Takashi Sano, who directed the first season of Tower of God and helmed the acclaimed “Rick and Morty vs. Genocider” and “Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil)” animated shorts, will be at the helm of the entire 10-episode series, writing and directing every episode.
This anime adaptation series was first released in March 2020 and has since gained immense popularity. Adult Swim commissioned five shorts from Takashi Sano, which transformed Rick and Morty into anime. The overwhelming success of these shorts prompted Adult Swim to take a step further and commission a full-fledged anime series. Takashi Sano has been entrusted with overseeing the series.
Although there is no confirmed release date for the series at this time, Sola Entertainment’s website states that Rick and Morty: The Anime will premiere in the first quarter of 2024 on Adult Swim and HBO Max.
