We May Be Getting The Outer Worlds This August
Someone manning the Steam page for the upcoming RPG extravaganza The Outer Worlds got a bit too excited and blew his proverbial load prematurely.
It seems that the game will be out 6 August of this year according to the updated-then-taken-down Steam page for the game. Now it just reads 2019. Thank goodness for sites like SteamDB for keeping tabs on the accidental changes.
While developer Obsidian and publisher Private Division are mum about the actual date, it doesn’t seem implausible that the two have been keeping the lid tight on the game and its eventual announcement last year during The Game Awards 2018. Plus, the game seems a bit smaller compared to their past projects like Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity; it might clock between 15 to 40 hours based on recent previews.
All I can say is that while the 6 August release date isn’t a guarantee date, I’m just happy we’re getting a new Obsidian game that will hopefully show everyone, Bethesda included, how CRPGs are done. I’m thankful that an RPG-making company is still sticking to their craft and not being told by a publisher to make an, oh say, spreadsheet loot-and-shoot game.
