The Pokémon Company To Investigate & Take Potential Measures Against Palworld
Less than a week after open-world survival crafting game Palworld launched for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and Xbox Game Pass on 19 January 2024 and following allegations of plagiarism, The Pokémon Company has given an official statement on the matter by promising to investigate and take potential measures.
The full statement reads:
We have received many inquiries regarding another company’s game released in January 2024. We have not granted any permission for the use of Pokémon intellectual property or assets in that game. We intend to investigate and take appropriate measures to address any acts that infringe on intellectual property rights related to the Pokémon. We will continue to cherish and nurture each and every Pokémon and its world, and work to bring the world together through Pokémon in the future.
This comes just as Palworld sales have just surpassed 8 million worldwide at the time of writing.
