Spider-Man No Way Home Webs Third Best Opening Weekend Of All Time
By Alleef Ashaari|December 20, 2021|1 Comment
Spider-Man No Way Home has broken records yet again, as it manages to garner a global box office total of US$587.2 million. That’s the third-biggest opening weekend of all time, followed by Avengers Endgame (US$1.2 billion) and Avengers Infinity War (US$640 million).
Tom Rothman, Sony’s Motion Picture Group chairman and CEO, said (via Deadline):
“This weekend’s historic Spider-Man No Way Home results, from all over the world and in the face of many challenges, reaffirm the unmatched cultural impact that exclusive theatrical films can have when they are made and marketed with vision and resolve.
All of us at Sony Pictures, are deeply grateful to the fabulous talent, both in front of and behind the camera, that produced such a landmark film. Thanks to their brilliant work, this Christmas everyone can enjoy the big screen gift of 2021’s mightiest Super Hero — your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.â€
Meanwhile, in Malaysia, the movie managed to grab a big chunk of the Malaysian box office on its first day (16 December 2021) with RM4.1 Million, the highest collection in a single trading day since March 2020. In just under two days, an estimated half a million Malaysians flocked to catch Spider-Man No Way Home in cinemas.
