The ROG Phone 8 Series Is Now Available In Malaysia

Last month, ASUS unveiled its new ROG Phone 8 series at CES 2024. This new gaming smartphone lineup boasts not just a fresh appearance but also incorporates several enhancements, including improved cameras, the latest silicon, AI capabilities, and an IP68 rating. The announcement was made on ASUS ROG Malaysia’s Official Facebook page where the company did a private launch event.

The redesigned ROG Phone 8 series comes in three distinct models: the standard ROG Phone 8, the ROG Phone 8 Pro, and the ROG Phone 8 Pro Edition. This time around, the company has opted for a more mainstream-minimal-sleek design, with options for 2 colours; grey or black, toning down the previously prominent gamer aesthetics.

Despite the variations in RAM and storage configurations, all three phones share similar specifications. The display is equipped with an impressive 6.78-inch 1080p AMOLED panel, offering a refresh rate of up to 165Hz and a peak brightness of 2,500 nits. Ensuring protection, the devices come equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, offering enhanced durability and resistance to scratches and drops. Additionally, they possess an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, offering peace of mind in harsh environments.

Underneath the chassis of the ROG Phone 8 series lies a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, allowing users to configure the device with up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. Powering the device is a 5,500mAh battery that supports both 65W wired and 15W wireless charging. In terms of photography, the ROG Phone 8 series boasts an impressive camera system. It features a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 13MP ultra-wide lens, a 32MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 32MP front shooter. With these powerful cameras, users can capture stunning images and videos with clarity and precision.

The ROG device, as expected, possesses certain gaming-centric attributes and designs. One of the notable features of the standard model is the presence of an LED logo on the back. Whereas, the Pro variants offer an “AniMe” programmable mini-LED feature, enabling you to personalize notifications and showcase captivating animations. Furthermore, the AirTrigger shoulder controls provide enhanced control options, allowing greater precision when gaming. Also, the device boasts a second USB-C port on its side, enabling you to play while simultaneously charging.

The ROG Phone 8 is now available for purchase, and the base model, featuring 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, carries a starting price of RM3,999. The Pro variant, which offers 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, is priced at RM4,799. Topping off the lineup is the ROG Phone 8 Pro Edition, which comes with a hefty 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. This top-of-the-line variant retails at RM5,999.

ASUS is offering an exciting promotion in conjunction with the launch of the ROG Phone 8 series. Everyone who purchases the base ROG Phone 8 will receive a free AeroActive Cooler X, while the ROG Phone 8 Pro comes with a DEVILCASE Guardian case. Additionally, both the Pro Edition and the Pro lineup come with a one-year extended warranty, worth RM399. This promotion will run from now until 20 February 2024, while stocks last. The ROG Phone 8 Pro lineup will be available for purchase from all authorized Asus retailers as well as the official Asus Malaysia store on Lazada and Shopee.
