Oppo Reno 11 PRO Review: Beyond Oppo Standards

Oppo has been known for its classy designs, and the Reno 11 PRO is no different. Known as one of the best mid-range phones, Oppo still manages to make their models look high-end. Unboxing the Reno 11 PRO made me feel hella excited. So, let me dive in and tell you why I think the Oppo Reno 11 PRO is one of the best  premium mid-range phones out there. Here’s why:

Go Pro

The Reno 11 PRO makes you look like some savvy influencer. It comes in two colours; the Pearl White and Rock Grey. Although I wish I got the white version, the Rock Grey is still sleek and classy, and gives off this glistening silver look. The back cover is slightly curved, but still has a really comfortable grip, thanks to its lightweight and ultra-slim feel. For a person that’s constantly on their phone single-handed, this was perfect for me!

The glass-stained panel is fingerprint-resistant, which is really nice. I hate seeing smudges on panels, it ruins such beautiful designs, hence why this is so well thought out. I’m probably a psycho because I rarely ever put a case cover on my phones, but I handle them with absolute care.

So let’s talk about its display, it has a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with HDR10+ support and also supports a 120Hz refresh rate. This is great for us scrolling through social media or also for entertainment. Not just that, but for us gamers, well, it’s a pretty darn good phone to be gaming on when talking about graphics. With the 120 refresh rate, gaming is also much smoother. So Genshin gamers, Star Rail gamers, it is great for us all. Mobile Legends is also pretty smooth so don’t worry.

The best part? The phone doesn’t get too hot after playing for awhile. The ColorOS 14 also offers a specific app-related high refresh rate. Basically, you can adjust all your apps to have a 60hz refresh rate, and the games at 120hz.

If you are worried about scratching the surface, or you’re a little clumsy, have no fear, we’ve got an extra layer of Asahi Glass AGC.

The Reno 11 PRO uses the octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset. It’s still better than most of its predecessors. Lag is not an issue with it, thankfully! Also like I’ve said before, I constantly leave multiple apps open at one go. I don’t get any issues performance-wise which is a plus in my book. The Reno 10 PRO used the Snapdragon 778G, so this is a mega upgrade in comparison. OPPO adopts an innovative approach aimed at enhancing user productivity with intuitive features. ColorOS 14 introduces a significant enhancement to the sidebar functionality.

It’s also powered by a 4,600mAh battery. While that’s great, I wouldn’t recommend playing games on it all day, since it drains the battery quite a bit. Listening to music and just scrolling through your social media leaves you some spare battery at the end of the day.

I’m really glad that Oppo has invested in the zoomies fast 80W SuperVOOC charging. This brings the phone from 0 to 100% in a mere 45 minutes. Pretty handy for us always on our phones and on the go!

CAMERA CRAZY

Oppo phones have always ensured their camera quality is top-notch for a mid-range phone, the Reno 11 PRO is no different. We get a  triple-camera system which gives some really good quality photos.

Let’s start with the main camera, the Reno 11 PRO uses Sony’s flagship IMX890. This is accompanied by a 32MP telephoto camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera. One thing that really works well with me, is the Portrait Mode. Unlike other phones whose Portrait Mode blurs out the background, the portrait mode shows everything clearly. HyperTone Imaging Engine algorithm comes into play here, making sure the image retains it’s natural colours. However I have noticed that the colours in 2x mode, is a tad bit saturated. Overall though, for what you pay, it’s damn good quality.

Check out some of the great pictures I took!

One major issue with the camera is its video-taking and capturing. Unless the area has great lighting, all our videos ended up blurry and smudgey. Some of its filters cannot be turned off either; it’s a fumble, sure, though not enough to knock points off of it.

A GOLDEN OPPO-TURNITY

For a mid-tier price range of RM 2,499.00, the phone hits the practical value at a low price. If you want something on the go for all your social media uses and entertainment, the Oppo Reno 11 PRO might be the pick for you!

It is pretty all-rounded with a great camera setup that takes awesome portrait photos. The Reno11 Pro’s 80W charging support makes it a better option than Google and Samsung smartphones.

Pros

  • Price tag is worth the features.
  • Great performance & battery life.
  • Above-average camera for photos.

Cons

  • Video capture is hit-and-miss.
