Latest Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Episodes Introduce Both Iconic & Obscure Villains

The third, fourth and fifth episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 1 are now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.

The talented voice cast includes Hudson Thames, Colman Domingo, Eugene Byrd, Grace Song, Zeno Robinson, Hugh Dancy and Charlie Cox. The head writer is Jeff Trammell and Mel Zwyer is the supervising director. Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt and Trammell serve as executive producers.

In the meantime, check out my full review of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 1 here.

Check out my breakdown of the first two episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man here.

Here’s my breakdown of the latest episodes:

Episode 3

Norman Osborn Started The Internship Program To Find Spider-Man And Repay Him For Saving Harry Osborn

Coming from Norman Osborn, that’s suspicious.

First Mention Of Captain America

So, that’s two superheroes confirmed on this Earth, Iron Man and Captain America. Does a version of the Avengers exist too? We don’t know yet.

The Show’s Version Of Speed Demon And Tarantula

I love that this series is using more obscure and less well-known villains such as Speed Demon and

In the comics, James Sanders AKA Speed Demon has super-speed. However, the show’s version doesn’t have powers and gets his speed from technology.

In the comics, the Maria Vasquez version of Tarantula is the fifth character to use the Tarantula codename and a member of the Heroes for Hire. She doesn’t actually have any powers but uses her fighting skills and razors.

The Show’s Version Of Big Donovan

Benjamin “Big Ben” Donovan first appeared in the comics that starred Daredevil and Luke Cage.

Someone Is Giving The Tech To These Villains

Butane, Speed Demon and Tarantula. Who is it? I don’t recognise the symbol.

Lonnie Lincoln Is On His Way To Becoming Tombstone

He’s forced to join Big Donovan’s gang in order to spare his brother from being a gangster.

Episode 4

The Sokovia Accords Just Happened On This Earth

This confirms that the Avengers exist on this Earth in some form.

In the MCU, Sokovia Accords were a set of legal documents designed to control and regulate the activities of enhanced individuals. It’s basically the MCU version of the comics’ Superhuman Registration Act.

This also means that this version of Peter has to register himself.

It’s confirmed that Ant-Man and Winter Soldier are also on this Earth.

Norman Osborn Gives Peter A New Suit, Peter Mentions Thor

Peter mentions that the suit’s design is closer to something Thor would wear, confirming that Thor exists on this Earth as well.

However, the cape becomes a liability and gets stuck so he only uses this suit once.

This suit is clearly inspired by the Prodigy suit in the comics, which Peter actually helped design and even used for a while.

His Other New Suit Looks Inspired By The Beetle

Norman calls it the Hornet pack.

It’s clearly inspired by the costume of a Marvel supervillain, the Beetle.

Another Suit Is Just Dark

It’s nice to see this suit has the classic webbed wings, which some Spider-Man suits do have.

The Show’s Version Of Carmilla Black AKA Scorpion

In the comics, Carmilla Black is a supervillain with toxic poison powers. She was one of the people who took on the Scorpion in the comics.

Big Donovan Confirms Mac Gargan Exists On This Earth As The Leader Of A Gang Called The Scorpions

The one true Scorpion.

The Events Of Avengers Age Of Ultron Happened On This Earth

Norman Osborn references the events of Avengers Age Of Ultron, including Hulk’s rampage in South Africa and the emergence of Ultron as a reason why he wants to build better heroes.

Norman Osborn Gives Peter A New Suit That’s Actually Viable, Inspired By The Future Foundation Suit

This suit is inspired by the Future Foundation suit from the comics.

The Father Of Rhino And The Chameleon Himself

Dmitri Smerdyakov is the Chameleon, a major Spider-Man villain.

Mikhail Sytsevich is the father of Aleksei Sytsevich AKA the Rhino.

The Culprit Behind All The Tech Used By All The Villains Has Been Dr. Otto Octavius AKA Doc Ock AKA Doctor Octopus

Now that’s a reveal. Everyone knows who Doc Ock is. He is voiced by Hugh Dancy.

It’s great to see the Steve Ditko design.

Episode 5

The Show’s Version Of Unicorn

In the comics, Milos Masaryk AKA Unicorn is a Soviet intelligence agent assigned to track down the original Crimson Dynamo, who defects to America. Wearing technology designed by the Dynamo, Masaryk gives himself the alias the “Unicorn”.

The show’s version is named Mila Masaryk instead.

Harry Osborn Is Friends With Luna Snow

In the comics, Seol Hee AKA Luna Snow first appeared in the video game Marvel Future Fight in 2018, and made her comic book debut in War Of The Realms New Agents Of Atlas #1 in 2019. She has ice powers and is a member of the superhero team the Agents of Atlas.

She’s more popular now that she’s in Marvel Rivals.

Mac Gargan Appears

AKA the Scorpion.

The Show’s Version Of Bulldozer, And Big Donovan Gives The Nickname ‘Tombstone’ To Lonnie

In the comics, he’s part of the Wrecking Crew.

In the series, he’s part of the same gang as Big Donovan.

There you have it, folks.

Until next week, excelsior!
